Guide for Novice Orchestra Conductors
Foreword, Dra. Emir Giménez Angarita. (2016)
José Carmelo Calabrese, author of the book we present today, began his career as a musician under the tutelage of his parents, studied Postgraduate studies at the Universidad Simón Bolívar, an institution from which he graduated with honors as a Master in the specialty of orchestral conducting. He is currently the principal conductor of the Symphonic Band June 24, deputy director of the Carabobo Symphony Orchestra and musical Ambassador of Venezuela in Brasilia appointed by the MOVSINFO institution.
When concerts that José Carmelo conducts are presented, such as the performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, the audience feels how this Director projects his energy, passion, sweetness and professionalism to musicians, choirs and soloists; in a way that imbues the performers and performers with the spiritual magic that comes from music, combined with emotions, feelings and inner peace; This performance at the head of the orchestra weaves an enveloping halo that integrates knowledge about the art of conducting, technique and rehearsals to flood the notes with silence where attendees enjoy themselves on a stage where only music stars the moment.
In this Guide, the author contributes experiences and preparation that serve as support for musicians who are interested in delving into the art of orchestral conducting; He finishes his Master Degree in Orchestral Conducting, with an investigation where he gives added value to the study, leaving hisa mark with highly invoiced material to share in this difficult task of being Orchestra Director; young directors will find in this Guide precise guidelines to learn from vicarious experiences and enrich their training process.
Furthermore, this material is of great importance for not having an abundant bibliography of Venezuelan authors on this edge of knowledge. Due to the usefulness of its content, the Secretary of Culture of the Carabobo Government through the Editorial Fund, promotes as a Guide to search ideas that seek to reap new conductors.
This young bulwark in the orchestral direction, integrates a family of musicians and is far exceeding the blessing of being the son of Maestro José Calabrese, musician and conductor with extensive experience, who is his personal and professional conductor.
It is an honor and a pleasure writes the foreword to the work of a son in my affections and to feel that his professional growth is greater every day. The wise guidelines contained in the Guide are a support for orchestra conducting students and their artistic project projection on national and international stages as testimony to the training process and academic level of music professionals who are proudly trained in Venezuela. Thanks for the deference.
